After more than two years away, “Black Ice” is back.

The long-awaited return of undefeated welterweight Joey Davis is happening March 31 at Bellator 293 at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, a Bellator source confirmed.

The 29-year-old Compton native, who is 8-0 in his professional MMA career, will take on Jeff Creighton (6-2-1) on the preliminary card. The Team Bodyshop 170-pounder last fought Nov. 19, 2020, when he earned a unanimous decision over Bobby Lee at Bellator 253.

Long regarded as one of the top prospects in MMA, the former football and wrestling star at Santa Fe High went 133-0 as a four-time NCAA Division II champion at Notre Dame College in Cleveland.

Bellator 293 marks the MMA promotion’s first return to Pechanga Resort Casino, where Davis has fought three times, since Bellator 229 on Oct. 4, 2019.

The Bellator 293 main event will feature two Top 10 heavyweights as No. 7 Marcelo Golm (10-3) faces No. 8 Daniel James (14-6-1). The co-main event will pit top-ranked featherweight and former UFC bantamweight title challenger Cat Zingano (13-4) against fourth-ranked No. 4-ranked Leah McCourt (7-2) of Ireland.

Tickets for Bellator 293 are available at the Pechanga box office, as well as Bellator.com, Ticketmaster.com and Pechanga.com. The main card will air live at 7 p.m. PT on Showtime. The preliminary card starts at 4 p.m. PT on the Bellator MMA YouTube channel, the Showtime Sports YouTube channel and Pluto TV.
