Government offices — Los Angeles city and county, national and state — and courts (www.lacourt.org/holiday/ui/index.aspx), libraries (www.lapl.org/holiday-closures; lacountylibrary.org) and schools are normally closed for Presidents Day.

The federal government, by the way, uses the term Washington’s Birthday (see the note here: bit.ly/3XnPP92).

Here is a sampling of other services that are closed, have an altered service or are on a regular schedule on Feb. 20.

Banks: Closed, as are New York Stock Exchange markets (www.nyse.com/markets/hours-calendars).

Mail: The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver regular mail and post offices are closed. about.usps.com/newsroom/events/

Transit: Buses and subway services in Los Angeles run on a regular schedule (www.metro.net). For example, the G Line (formerly the Orange Line) current schedule is here: bit.ly/3G5lxTp. Metrolink trains also run on a regular schedule (www.metrolinktrains.com; holiday schedule 2023 here: bit.ly/3bo3uHF).

Trash: Pickup is on a regular schedule in Los Angeles (more information on Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment, 800-773-2489; click on What We Do, then Collection, and then see Holiday Trash Collection here: www.lacitysan.org). Trash pickup will also be on a regular schedule in Burbank (818-238-3800; bit.ly/3yvi8r3) and Glendale (818-548-3916; see Collection Schedule, bit.ly/3jd8zK8).
