Four GOP presidential hopefuls, including former President Donald Trump, are making their case to Republicans at the state party convention this weekend.
Trump, who skipped the debate in Simi Valley earlier this week, will kick off the festivities at the California Republican Party’s fall convention Friday afternoon. South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will speak later Friday; tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy will address convention attendees on Saturday.
The convention is being held at the Anaheim Marriott, just a short distance from the Disney theme parks. In the lobby Friday morning, Disney enthusiasts mingled with convention attendees, many who sported patriotic outfits or MAGA hats.
A backdrop to the convention is the looming government shutdown and the death of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, California’s longest-serving senator.
