Throughout the Anaheim Public Libraries system there will be celebrations of the rich cultures of Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
The East Anaheim branch has Ballet Folklorico Las Estrellas visiting for a performance at 1 p.m. on Sept. 30. A presentation on “Mexicanos in Anaheim: 1900-1955” will be presented at 2 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the Haskett Branch and at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 at the Ponderosa Joint-Use Branch.
The Haskett will also host Family Loteria Night at 5 p.m. on Oct. 9. Ponderosa will host a Selena Party at 5 p.m. on Oct. 12. Culinary programs are also planned at all the branches, call 714-765-1880 for specific information.
And don’t miss the Dia De Los Muertos Ofrenda from Oct.15 to Nov. 2 at the Central Library (during regular hours). There will be an opportunity for the community to bring in copies of photographs of loved ones who have passed on to add to the display in the children’s room.
Musically Me event talks careers
The Berklee College of Music/Berklee City Music, the Anaheim-based Reaching Youth Through Music Opportunities, or RYTMO, and Vibrant Minds Charter School, also in Anaheim, will host a workshop, Musically Me, for middle and high school students focused on pursuing a college education and careers in music.

Learn to react in an emergency
Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, training will be available to Anaheim residents in October.
CERT members learn about fire safety, first aid, light search and rescue and other preparedness skills so they can help their neighbors in an emergency or natural disaster when it might take some time before authorities can respond.
