Driving around Orange County is fine, but when you take time to walk the streets, look in between buildings and notice markings on the sidewalk, you get a new perspective.
I’ve spent everyday for the last two and a half years – with the exception of sick and travel days – taking brisk, 30 minute walks in different locations around OC.
The intent is to get a little exercise each day, raise my heart rate and close the rings on my Apple Watch – and take some pictures with my iPhone.
For those who don’t have an Apple Watch, there are three rings that fill in as you go about your day: exercise, calories and standing.
Since January 2021, I’ve managed to photograph more than 1,000 miles of Orange County streets with goals set to 35 minutes of exercise, 720 calories and 15 hours of standing.
The resulting collection of pictures has become a ground-level snapshot of different neighborhoods, touching every city in the county.
