A man was arrested Monday, Feb. 13, for allegedly shooting to death one of his elderly neighbors in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles police said.

Neighbors said the dispute apparently was over noise.

Hadis Haile, 42, was arrested after the shooting of a 68-year-old man in the 14600 block of Moorpark Street, police said.

The shooting occurred at around 3:15 a.m. on this stretch of Moorpark near Vesper Avenue, a neighborhood of apartment buildings and single-family homes just north of Ventura Boulevard.

When police got there after a report of gunfire, they found the victim in the street; he died at the scene. The man had not yet been publicly identified.

Police have not yet said what they believe led to the shooting, but neighbors at the scene said they believe the men got into an argument over loud noise.

Haile was booked into a Los Angeles County jail, where he was being held on $2 million bail.
