Flash flood warnings went into effect Friday morning in parts of of the state as meteorologists warned much of California to brace for heavy rainfall through the day.
That’s due to yet another atmospheric river moving into the region — current forecasts show the impact in the L.A. area to be far less significant than other parts of the state.
What to expect from the weather today
The further north you get from L.A., the more intense the storm will be.
Santa Barbara has a flood watch in place, with 2-4 inches of rainfall anticipated. The heaviest rainfall near L.A. has been in San Luis Obispo County — where a flash flood warning went into effect this morning. The National Weather Service said that area has experienced steady rain since Thursday.
Pre-dawn Friday, the National Weather Service said streams near Cambria and San Simeon were “already reaching concerning levels” and “significant flooding is likely soon.”
In Ventura and L.A., we’ll see 1.5 inches max in most places, though 3 inches is possible along the coast. While they don’t have flood watches in place, both
