A stuffed bus is usually a commuting drag, but for one day a year it’s the goal.
On Friday, Dec. 8, the annual Stuff-a-Bus toy drive will be held, collecting donations from the community of unwrapped toys, stuffed animals, sports equipment and other gifts that will be put into the hands of chidlren around the region who might not otherwise receive a lot this holiday.
The toy drive returns to the Honda Center after a brief relocation and will be set up in the parking lot from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The collection event is organized by ABC7, which broadcasts for the site throughout the day, and local firefighters, to benefit their Spark of Love Toy Drive. The Orange County Transportation Authority provides the buses.
The event has seen a bit of a lull in giving recently, last year enough donations were received to fill 10 buses. There have been years when nearly 30 buses have been stuffed.
And organizers ask people to not forget the older kids and teenagers, who would welcome “skateboards, watches and makeup kits and brushes.”
