A young woman was shot by Anaheim police officers early Sunday, police and a family member said.
The shooting occurred around 9 a.m. on Anaheim Boulevard, South of Ball Road, said Sgt. Jon McClintock. He did not confirm the gender of the person shot. But the 20-year-old woman’s grandfather did so later.
A portion of Ball Road was closed off because of the investigation, and red caution tape surrounded a Burger King near the bus stop where the woman was shot, according to footage obtained by freelance videographer OC Hawk. Police could be heard yelling at the woman to drop a weapon in the blurry footage.
The woman was transported to a hospital, her grandfather, Ramon Lopez, said later.
Anaheim police released no details about the shooting as of 6 p.m.
Earlier this month, police shot and killed Luis Muñoz, a 29-year-old resident of Anaheim, in the parking lot of a gas station at Orangewood Avenue and Harbor Boulevard.
Anaheim police had attempted to arrest Muñoz, who was a suspect in a sexual assault. They said he ran from officers until he reached the ARCO parking lot, where he was shot.
After the shooting, a large knife that police believe belonged to Muñoz was found nearby, police said. No officer was reported injured.
