THE GAME: Catchers Will Smith and Chris Okey each hit home runs as the Dodgers beat the Texas Rangers, 7-1, on Saturday afternoon at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz.

HITTING REPORT: Smith hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and Okey a two-run homer in the seventh. … Chris Owings hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning. Owings is 7 for 21 (.333) this spring. … James Outman drove in a run with an RBI single. … Kevin Padlo was 2 for 2 with a single and a double. … Freddie Freeman (a single and a walk) and Max Muncy (two walks) were each on base in two of their three times up.

PITCHING REPORT: Right-hander Blake Treinen was knocked from the game in the fifth inning when Sam Huff lined a ball back up the middle and hit Treinen in the midsection. Treinen dropped to the mound in pain and eventually walked off the field with a trainer. He was taken for X-rays with a preliminary diagnosis of a right rib contusion. … Fifth-starter candidate Michael Grove started and pitched into the fourth inning, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out six. … Daniel Hudson faced two batters in the fourth inning and struck out both. … Joe Kelly and Ryan Brasier each pitched a hitless inning with three combined strikeouts.

DEFENSE REPORT: Mookie Betts was charged with an error for blocking the base on a play at second base in the fifth inning. Derek Hill lined a ball to right field and tried to stretch it to a double. Chris Taylor’s throw beat Hill to second base but Betts was called for obstruction because he had one foot in front of the base. MLB has said it will crack down on obstruction this season.

UP NEXT: Diamondbacks (RHP Brandon Pfaadt) at Dodgers (RHP Gavin Stone), Sunday, 1:05 p.m., Camelback Ranch, SportsNet LA, 570 AM
