LOS ANGELES — Jaylen Clark and Jaime Jaquez were appreciative of all the fans who came out to the UCLA men’s basketball game against Stanford, but urged even more to come to Saturday’s matchup with California.

The pair got their wish. The No. 4 Bruins beat the Golden Bears 78-43 in front of a sellout crowd at Pauley Pavilion on Saturday night.

Jaquez led UCLA with 20 points and added eight rebounds. Two other Bruins reached double digits in scoring: Amari Bailey had 16 points with nine rebounds and Jaylen Clark added 13 points and five rebounds off the bench.

The Bruins shot 52% as a team and made 6-of-20 3-pointers.

UCLA (23-4 overall, 14-2 in Pac-12) has now won 23 games in a row at home, which is the longest streak in the country, and is 15-0 in home games this season.

UCLA opened the game with a 12-0 scoring run that began with a layup from Jaquez, whose birthday was that night, less than a minute in.

Joel Brown put up the first points for California (3-24, 2-14) on a layup roughly six minutes into the first half, but UCLA still had a 12-2 lead at that point. The Bruins built on the lead in a flashy way when Adem Bona threw down two consecutive two-handed dunks, both with assists from Tyger Campbell.

UCLA made two back-to-back 3-pointers for a 32-15 lead with under three minutes to go in the first half. The Bruins had a 38-15 lead at the break and were outshooting the Golden Bears 45% to 19% and outrebounding them 25 to 14.

The Bruins maintained a lead of roughly 30 points for most of the second half. A Jaquez 3-pointer brought the score to 49-19 with 16 minutes left in the game.

Jaquez made a pass to Amari Bailey three minutes later for a one-handed dunk with few Golden Bears nearby in the paint. Bailey had a layup on the net possession to make it 57-22.

Jaquez took to the bench about midway through the second half after scoring 20 points, which was just shy of high season-high 27 points in December against Stanford. Bailey was kept in the game…
