It was his first competitive outing since July 2021, before a back injury cost him an entire season… RHP Carlos Estévez worked a scoreless inning, issuing one walk. He had not gotten through the inning in either of his first two outings, walking six of the nine batters he had faced. Estévez has been working on pitching more up in the zone. … RHPs Jacob Webb and Jimmy Herget and LHP Kolton Ingram were among the other relievers to work. None of them has allowed a run yet this spring, with each pitching at least three games. … Angels pitchers scattered just five hits.
HITTING REPORT: Hunter Renfroe hit a homer beyond the grass berm in left field. It was his second homer of the spring. … Logan O’Hoppe just missed a homer. His drive to center field was caught at the fence by Roman Quinn. … The Angels scored three runs on a routine ground ball with the bases loaded. Guardians third baseman Gabriel Arias fielded the bouncer and tried to tag O’Hoppe between second and third. He missed the tag and then threw the ball into right field. … Zach Neto picked up his first hit, a triple into the gap in right-center. Neto had been hitless in 10 at-bats in his first big league camp since the Angels took him with their first-round pick in 2022. Neto then scored on a triple by Trey Cabbage, whose line drive sailed over the head of right fielder Julian Escobedo.
DEFENSE REPORT: Shortstop Livan Soto made a diving stop going to his right.
