Topline:

A federal judge is back in court this morning for a big post-trial hearing in downtown L.A. on what’s next for the sprawling Veteran’s Administration campus in West LA.

Quick backstory: Judge David O. Carter ruled earlier this month for plaintiffs in the long-running case over services for veterans. Carter called out what he said were years of “’broken promises, corruption and neglect.”

What’s next: Carter told the parties appearing today to be ready to discuss where to put more than 2,000 housing units that he says must be built within six years, some of it much faster:

  • 750 of those units are temporary supportive housing
  • 1,800 are permanent supportive housing that must accommodate disabled veterans who have been excluded in the past due to income requirements
  • Carter also plans to tackle exit plans for a UCLA baseball stadium and athletic facilities for the Brentwood School that are currently located on the VA campus.

Where and when:

  • Location: Courtroom 1, First Street Courthouse in downtown L.A.
  • Time: 9 a.m.

This is a developing story. We’ll have more from the court later today.
