Authorities have identified a woman who was fatally shot in Hawthorne, a crime that left her accused killer in custody.
The shooting was reported at about 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, near Doty Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard, Hawthorne police said.
Officers found her suffering from several gunshot wounds to her upper body, and she died at the scene, police said.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the woman as Kmore Justine Brownstone, 54, of Hawthorne.
Witnesses told police the suspect dropped a firearm and walked away following the crime, and officers arrested a 49-year-old man after searching the area, police said.
The suspect is Arthur Lee Starks, police said Wednesday. Starks was charged with murder, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.
