A fight broke out on a L.A. Metro Green (C) Line train Wednesday evening, Aug. 2, near the Crenshaw Station with one man pulling out a sharp object and the other a gun — leaving one dead and the other wounded, authorities said.
It was unclear what prompted the brawl.
Just after 7:20 p.m., Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were called to the Crenshaw Station, at 11902 S. Crenshaw Blvd., and found a man with stab wounds in his upper body on a train, sheriff’s Lt. Michael Gomez said.
He had apparently pulled out a handgun and shot the other man in the upper body.
The stabbed man with the gun died. The other man was getting off of the train when deputies arrived and detained. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Neither had been publicly identified.
The one who died was in his early to mid 20s, deputies figured, while the the other man was perhaps in his mid-30s.
The confrontation and investigation prompted Metro to suspend train service for a while between the Hawthorne/Lennox and Vermont/Athens stations; shuttle-bus service was provided instead.
