A man was found fatally injured after an apparent stabbing inside a Hermosa Beach apartment on Monday night, and authorities were sorting out the circumstances as the death was not being investigated as a homicide.
Around 6 p.m., officers responded to a call of unknown trouble after a woman heard screaming at a nearby apartment on the 400 block of 2nd Street, the Hermosa Beach Police Department said in a statement. Upon arrival, police found a man with several injuries that appeared to be stab wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several people were inside the apartment when the apparent stabbing occurred, and a second man was transported in an ambulance and hospitalized for an unrelated medical emergency, police said.
Details surrounding the identity of the victim and the circumstances of his death were not immediately released.
“The incident is not being investigated as a homicide at this time. There are no outstanding suspects or danger to the public,” the police statement said.
The cause of death is under investigation and will be determined by the office of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
