A Monrovia historic landmark home on nearly a half-acre lot is on the market for $2.238 million.

Known as the CO Banks House after the citrus packing businessman who originally owned it, the 3,624-square-foot Italian period revival has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a finished basement with laundry. Records show it sold last in April 1994 for $378,000.

The house dates to 1922. Inside, the formal dining and living rooms flank the entry hall and open to the front porch. The dining room boasts a vintage chandelier.  A gas fireplace anchors the living room.

At the back of the living room, a small den provides direct access to the driveway near the garage.

The large gourmet kitchen has stainless-steel appliances, stone counters and wood cabinetry. It separates the formal dining and breakfast rooms.

Take the stairs up to the bedrooms.

The primary bedroom has a dressing area with a vanity and closet space, which leads to a tiled bathroom with a tub-shower combination.

Across the landing is another bedroom with a walk-in closet and a bathroom with a shower.

The remaining two bedrooms share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom.

Outdoor areas include a concrete patio, grassy backyard, pool, spa and cabana.

Thanks to its designation by the city as Historic Landmark No. 11, it qualified and now benefits from annual property tax savings under the Mills Act in exchange for its maintenance and historic preservation.

Jason and Laura Berns of Keller Williams Realty hold the listing .
