A Monrovia man was charged on Tuesday, Dec. 20, for allegedly sexually abusing a 2-year-old toddler and distributing child pornography on social media.
David Lisandro Perez Figueroa, 22, was charged in a two-count indictment with production of child pornography and distribution of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Figueroa is accused of coercing the 2-year-old victim into engaging in sexually explicit conduct with him for the purpose of filming child pornography, according to the indictment. From an unknown date that continued until Dec. 5, Figueroa is suspected of distributing the footage on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, through an account linked to his name.
Authorities became aware of the illicit posts shared online after British law enforcement investigating a separate suspect in the United Kingdom discovered chat logs between Figueroa and the other suspect on X, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
A search warrant was executed at his residence on Dec. 5 and Figueroa was arrested and has remained in custody without bail.
Figueroa faces a minimum of 15 years in federal prison, with a maximum sentence of 50 years, if found guilty of both charges.
