PASADENA — Pasadena Humane is about to begin a search for pet models to appear in its 2025 calendar as part of an annual contest, the shelter announced today.
Animal owners are encouraged to submit their pets’ best photo for the contest, which opens for submissions on Saturday.
“Our annual calendar contest is one of our favorite fundraisers,” Dia DuVernet, Pasadena Humane’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “There are so many adorable pets and amazing photos. The best part is that it all benefits the pets in our care. It’s truly a win/win.”
Twelve pets will be selected to adorn the pages of the 2025 Pasadena Humane calendar, and the winners will be decided by popular vote, according to shelter officials.
Competition is expected to be fierce, as the 2024 contest featured 192 entries and the top vote-getter cat, Federer, received more than 7,000 votes, according to the shelter.
The 2025 calendar is sponsored by Petco Love, a national nonprofit dedicated to animal welfare.
“Our investment in Pasadena Humane is part of more than $15 (million) in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” Petco Love president Susanne Kogut said. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”
The calendar photo contest will be open for submissions and voting from Saturday through June 30. There is a $25 entry fee for each photo, and members of the public can cast votes for $1 per vote, according to the shelter.
Pet owners can enter their photos and vote online at pasadenahumane.org/25calendar.
