One of the biggest highlights of watching the Rose Parade each year is seeing all of the unique floats created to go along with the theme. The floats have come a long way since the tradition first began in 1890.
Over the past two decades we’ve witnessed as more brands have taken part in the parade from Disneyland’s recording breaking 150 feet long float in 2006 to Snapchat’s eye catching design just last year.

With the rapid advancement of technology, and with more tools easily available, we asked ourselves, what would floats look like if AI designed them?
At first, we tried out a few different tools with the same prompt:“Parade Float design for the 2024 Rose Parade with the theme ‘Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language’”
We took this description to four different text to image tools; Google’s AI, Canva’s Magic Media, and both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Express’ generative fill. We found that each site and application had a very different way of bringing our description to life.
The unique thing we found with Canva’s Magic Media plug-in was that you could easily choose between different image styles such as photos, 3D models and concept art.
However, with each design we received we found they were missing a creative story telling element that makes the Rose Parade floats so personal.

So to find a description for some more specific floats we brought in another AI tool, ChatGPT.
We asked ChatGPT to give us descriptions for five different floats based on the theme and description the Tournament of Roses had shared.
Our prompt:
“Come up with five different parade float designs for the 2024 Rose Parade based off of its theme “Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language” and the following info:
