What’s closed for Veterans Day, Nov. 10-11, in the Los Angeles area

Although Veterans Day is officially on Nov. 11, this year most government offices — Los Angeles city and county, national and state — observe Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 10. Some offices and other services are also closed on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 10-11.

Superior Court: Closed Nov. 10 (bit.ly/3mrgaUz)

Los Angeles Public Library: Closed Nov. 10-11 (bit.ly/2ZCdZV5)

Los Angeles County Public Library: Closed Nov. 10-11 https://lacountylibrary.org

Los Angeles Unified School District: Schools are closed on Nov. 10 (achieve.lausd.net/calendar)

Here is a sampling of other services that are closed or are on a regular schedule on Nov. 10-11.

Banks: Closed on Nov. 10. The New York Stock Exchange is open on Nov. 10 (www.nyse.com/markets/hours-calendars). The bond market is closed on Nov. 10 (www.kiplinger.com/investing/stock-market-holidays)

Mail: The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver mail and post offices are closed on Nov. 11. www.usps.com. 2023 Holidays: bit.ly/3AXdv9P

Transit: Buses and subway services in Los Angeles run on a regular schedule (www.metro.net; check the current schedules for holidays, bit.ly/3EivbRY). Also, for example, see the Saturday, Sunday and Holidays schedule section for the G Line (also known as the Orange Line) here: tinyurl.com/5vx8ky59

Metrolink trains run on a regular schedule (www.metrolinktrains.com; check here for observed holidays, bit.ly/3bo3uHF).

Trash: Pickup is on a regular schedule in Los Angeles (click on What We Do, then Collection and then, see Holiday Trash Collection here: www.lacitysan.org; 800-773-2489). Pickup is also on a regular schedule in Burbank (www.burbankca.gov/web/public-works/trash-faqs; 818-238-3800) and in Glendale (look under “Collection Schedule”: tinyurl.com/486wukn7).
