What’s closed for Christmas, Dec. 25, in the Los Angeles area

Government offices — Los Angeles city and county, national and state — and superior courts and libraries are normally closed for Christmas Day.

Here’s a sampling of government offices and other services that are closed or have altered schedules on Monday, Dec. 25.

Banks: Banks are closed. Financial markets are also closed (www.nyse.com/markets/hours-calendars).

Libraries: Los Angeles Public Library locations are closed on Monday (libraries normally open on Sunday are also closed on Dec. 24; www.lapl.org/holiday-closures).

Los Angeles County Library locations are closed (www.facebook.com/LACountyLibrary; lacountylibrary.org).

Mail: The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver regular mail and post offices are closed www.usps.com/holiday/holiday-schedule.htm

Transit: Buses and subway services in Los Angeles run on a Saturday/Sunday/Holiday schedule on Monday (www.metro.net). For example, the G Line (also known as the Orange Line) schedule is here: tinyurl.com/ynmrsj4f

Metrolink trains run on a weekend schedule on Monday. Service available on the Antelope Valley, San Bernardino, Orange County, 91/Perris Valley, Ventura County and Inland Empire-Orange County lines (trains will not operate on the Riverside Line). Trash: Pickup is delayed by one day on Dec. 25 (more information on Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment, 800-773-2489; click on What We Do, then Collection, and then see Holiday Trash Collection here: www.lacitysan.org). Monday’s trash is picked up on Tuesday; Tuesday’s trash is picked up on Wednesday; and so on through the week. Pickup is also on a regular schedule in Burbank (www.burbankca.gov/web/public-works/trash-faqs; 818-238-3800). Pickup is delayed a day in Glendale (look under “Collection Schedule”: tinyurl.com/486wukn7)
