Los Angeles police say they arrested a Glendale man accused of hitting a pedestrian with his Tesla in Sunland and leaving the victim for dead.
The 28-year-old driver was headed southbound in his gray 2023 Tesla Model 3 in the 10000 block of Sunland Boulevard at around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19 when, police said, he struck a man crossing the street.
The pedestrian, who was only identified as a man in his 40s, was crossing at Sunland Way when he was hit, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
When Los Angeles firefighters got there, they found the victim and took him to a nearby hospital, where he died.
The driver was not at the scene when officials got there, but police said they were able to identify the Tesla driver and arrest him.
The driver has not yet been charged. Booking records show he is currently being held in jail in Van Nuys. He has not yet been given a bail amount.
LAPD Valley Traffic detectives were not immediately available for comment.
