A woman was killed after a large tree collapsed onto an SUV at Pearson Park in Anaheim on Sunday, Feb. 19, though the cause of the tree’s falling was not immediately determined, authorities said.
Just before 3 p.m., the woman was in the backseat of the SUV parked along the 400 block of Harbor Boulevard, on the south side of the park, when the tree fell onto the vehicle, Anaheim Police Sgt. Jon McClintock said in an interview with OnScene.TV reporters. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tree was so large that first responders were having difficulties lifting it from the vehicle, McClintock said.
The identity of the victim, who was with her family at the time, was not immediately release on Sunday.
The cause of the tree’s collapse had not been determined and authorities were continuing their investigation.
