One of the deadliest fires in more than a century, the Maui wildfire, which ignited on Aug. 8, has already killed at least 106 people with roughly 1,300 still missing, torched more than 2,200 structures, and will cost an estimated $5.5 billion to rebuild. The former capital of the Hawaiian kingdom will take years to repair the damage done by the blaze. In an effort to raise funds for the island residents, a handful of Orange County restaurants will hold fundraisers with a portion of proceeds going to Maui charities.
Da Hawaiian Kitchen: This Huntington Beach spot will host a Kalua Pig Fundraiser. Guests can pre-order pork orders (one pound for $15) and pick them up on Saturday, Aug. 26 between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “All proceeds go directly to Maui emergency funds,” according to Da Hawaiian Kitchen’s Instagram.

Herb & Ranch: Herb & Ranch will host a trivia night fundraiser on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Commons in UCI Research Park. Guests can look forward to poke nachos, Kalua pork sliders, macaroni salad, and Spam/tofu musubi, as well as a selection of beer and wine. Trivia is free with prizes for the top winners. Proceeds from the food and drink sales will be donated to Maui Strong, which supports Maui communities affected by the devastating wildfires.

Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern: For the next two Wednesdays, Aug. 23 and 30, the Dana Point eatery will donate 10% of all restaurant sales to help the Gruber family. Josh Gruber, father and husband, has been working as a Lahaina Firefighter to help the community in the wildfire crisis.
