Taco Bell is testing a pair of items with chicken strips with chile sauce at one location in Orange County, according to a news release from the Irvine-based chain.
The drive-thru is at 4101 Jamboree Road, Newport Beach.
The items are Chile Crisp Chicken Tacos, a chicken strip smothered with Chile Crisp Sauce and ranch dressing, served with lettuce and cheese on a flour tortilla, and an order of Chile Crisp Chicken Strips. Both are $4.99.
Taco Bell has tested chicken tenders before, but the chile sauce is new. The new release describes it as “sweet, spicy and citrusy sauce packed with flavorful bits of Anaheim, ancho and guajillo chili peppers, garlic, lime, and other hints of aromatics.”
Restaurant tests are used to gather customer reactions and see if kitchens can handle new items. This test will continue for a week or as long as supplies last, according to the chain.
Taco Bell has two other locations in Newport Beach. One is a Taco Bell Cantina that serves alcohol.
