Holly Barker, one of Southern California’s top high school distance runners, has transferred to Trabuco Hills from Laguna Hills, Trabuco Hills cross country coach Dennis Kelly confirmed Thursday.
Barker will be a junior this coming school year.
Barker was the Orange County girls cross country athlete of the year last season at Laguna Hills. She finished third in Division IV at the CIF State Cross Country Championships and finished third in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 finals.
She delivered first-place finishes in cross country at the Orange County Championships, at the Laguna Hills Invitational and at the Woodbridge Invitational.
In track and field this past spring, Barker was fifth in the 3,200 meters at the CIF State Championships with a personal-best time of 10 minutes, 11.56 seconds. She was the CIF-SS Division 3 3,200 champion and was the Pacific Coast League champion in the 1,600.
Barker has participated in two workouts this week with her new Trabuco Hills teammates, Kelly said via text.
