The Red Bull Foam Wreckers on Saturday, Aug. 12, showed the softer side of surfing.
Instead of fierce, tough competition, the event held at T-Street in San Clemente was a light-hearted event meant to bring a wacky, fun vibe to the beach.
Along with dozens of competitors to watch, there were games and goodies on the beach, and pro surfers giving out autographs and posing for photos.
The gathering was co-hosted by San Clemente-brand Catch Surf, which helped change the perception of soft surfboards when it launched in 2008. The beach south of the San Clemente Pier was where the brand tested new models through the years.
“The Red Bull Foam Wreckers is a ‘thank you’ for the community, for showing us so much support over the years,” Catch Surf Sales and Marketing Manager Johnny Redmond said. “It’s been an absolute blast and we’ve enjoyed it.”
