The Olympic Games are still a year away, but seniors at the Adult Day Health Care Center in Anaheim were busy showing their skills this week.
Meals on Wheels Orange County hosted the two-day event dubbed the “Silver Olympics.”
Participants competed in six events, including the bean bag toss, cotton ball race and egg relay.
“It helps socializing with everybody else,” said Lizette Lemus, the activities coordinator for Meals on Wheels Orange County Adult Day Care Center. “They meet a lot of new people and make friends.”
Meals on Wheels put on the event to highlight the importance of movement and socializing for seniors and to honor the 2023 National Senior Games being played now.
The competition continues today with medals and bragging rights for the winners.
“Today was all about having fun,” Lemus said.
