Several Orange County communities joined in the National Night Out campaign on Tuesday.
The idea of the movement, which is marked across the country on the first Tuesday of each August, is to encourage residents to get out in their community and meet each other and their local law enforcement as a way to deter crime.
At parks and community centers throughout the area, local police departments arranged demonstrations, shared information about staying safe and held other activities for families.
Seal Beach hosted its National Night Out at Eisenhower Park with tours of a mobile command post, police motorcycle and SWAT vehicles to check out and more.
