It will be an active weekend of fun on the coast, with two popular parades stepping off Saturday morning and activities planned each day.
The Festival of Whales will celebrate the annual migration of the massive gray whales past Dana Point with a full daily schedule. This is the celebration’s 52nd year.
The festivities begin with a Welcoming of the Whales Ceremony at the Ocean Institute at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, March 3. The “Magical Migration” parade is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 4.
There will be beach cleanups, concerts, food, entertainment and more hosted around the Dana Point Harbor throughout the weekend. And, you can also potentially celebrate the whales up-close by taking advantage of whale watching trips offered by local charters throughout the weekend.
