After pausing in 2020 and 2021 for pandemic-related reasons, the Pacific Food and Wine Classic, wherein dozens of area eateries and wineries come together for one all-inclusive afternoon in Newport Beach, returned last year with tickets selling out fast. If you missed out then, you now have a few weeks left to snatch your spot at 2023’s food-and-libations bacchanalia.
The award-winning Pacific Wine and Food Classic, which was voted No. 1 on USA Today’s list of 10 best food festivals in the nation (beating similar foodie fests in New York City, Dallas, and San Diego), will feature more than 30 chef-created dishes. Guests can look forward to bites by Karla Vasquez of Chelas Mexican Kitchen, Ronnie Chavez of Trevor’s at the Tracks, Sabrina Vicerra of Red O, Matthew Luna of Five Crowns and Side Door, and Hiroshi Shima of Sushi Roku.
Chef Joe Youkhan will also be on hand to show off the prowess that secured his win on the Food Network’s “Chopped!” And dishes from the upcoming SET Sushi and Steak (set to open later this year at the Pendry), Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, and Xacalli Kitchen will also be available for tasting.
In addition to the chef roster, there will be a taco garden where guests can experience some of the best tacos in Orange County, a sparkling wine bar care of Hi-Time Wine Cellars, over 100 wines from throughout the world, beer by Stella Artois and Estrella, and craft cocktails galore. A silent disco on the sands will take place for those who want to groove a little in between noshing.
Tickets cost $195 for general admission (starting at 2 p.m.) and $240 for early admission (1 p.m.).
