1. Mater Dei 9-3-1: The biggest surprise of the season so far is Mater Dei. The Monarchs are 6-0 and in first place in the Trinity League after sweeping three-game series against St. John Bosco and JSerra.

2. Santa Margarita 8-2: The Eagles are 5-1 in the Trinity League after winning two of three from league-favorite JSerra last week. They swept Orange Lutheran in three league games the previous week.

3. Villa Park 8-1: Timely hitting and strong pitching by Zach Brown and Andrew Grove got the Spartans a 3-2 win over Foothill in a crucial Crestview League opener.

4. Orange Lutheran 7-4-1: The Lancers beat Servite in their two Trinity League games. They are scheduled to play Mater Dei three times this week.

5. JSerra 4-6: The Lions got their first league win last week while going 1-2 against Santa Margarita.

6. Foothill 6-4: A late rally was not enough for the Knights in a 3-2 loss to Villa Park in the Crestview League. They handed Santa Margarita a loss earlier this season.

7. Cypress 9-4: The Centurions are 4-0 in the Empire League after two-game sweeps of Kennedy and Tustin.
