Orange County baseball Top 25: Huntington Beach stays at No. 1, April 17

This week’s Orange County high school baseball rankings.

Notable this week: No. 1 Huntington Beach advanced to the championship game of the Boras Classic South but lost to state No. 1 Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks. … JSerra stays at No. 2 after losing to Notre Dame 3-0 and beating state No. 4 Corona in the Boras tournament. … Orange Lutheran moves up to No. 5 after going 3-1 in the Boras tournament.

BASEBALL TOP 25

(Records through Sunday, April 16)

1. Huntington Beach 14-6: The Oilers won the National High School Invitational three weeks ago and are in first place in the Sunset League. They lost to Notre Dame 8-5 in the Boras Classic South championship game, which ended their 15-game winning streak.

2. JSerra 13-8: The Lions stayed hot, going 3-1 in the Boras tournament with wins over Corona, Etiwanda and Norco.

Previous ranking: 2

3. Santa Margarita 16-5: The Eagles were 2-2 in the Boras tournament, with wins over Corona and Etiwanda and losses to Aquinas and Maranatha.

Previous ranking: 3

4. Mater Dei 14-7-1: The Monarchs split their four games in the Boras tournament, defeating Santiago of Corona and Maranatha and losing to Huntington Beach and Etiwanda.

Previous ranking: 4

5. Orange Lutheran 14-8-1: The Lancers were 3-1 in the Boras tournament, with the loss in the semifinals to Notre Dame 1-0.

Previous ranking: 6

6. Cypress 18-6: One week after winning the National Classic the Centurions went 2-2 in the Boras tournament with wins over Santiago and San Dimas and losses to state-ranked Aquinas and Corona.

Previous ranking: 5

7. Servite 13-10: The Friars walloped Dana Hills 11-0 in their only game of the week. They play three Trinity League games against JSerra this week.

8. Pacifica 18-2: The Mariners swept Tustin in two Empire League games to increase their winning streak to 13 games.
