A 35-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of stabbing another man who was then driven to a nearby fire station, where he died, authorities said.
John Danny Tamallo Flores was arrested about 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, after an officer spotted his vehicle on a major thoroughfare and pulled him over in the 2300 block of North Grand Avenue, spokeswoman Officer Natalie Garcia said.
Police were searching for the vehicle after a witness provided a description to investigators, Garcia said. Detectives did a records check and found its registered owner, who was identified as the suspect.
Flores was accused of stabbing 44-year-old Rodolfo Rosell during an altercation in front of a mixed use building in the 2000 block of West Chestnut Avenue about 3:15 p.m., Feb. 15, Garcia said. An acquaintance drove Rosell to Orange County Fire Station 73, 419 S. Franklin St., but he died.
What started the fight was still under investigation, Garcia said. Police had previously said the stabbing may have been gang-related.
