A blufftop Laguna Beach home on Victoria Beach with ties to Texas’s most expensive residential listing has hit the market for $28 million.
PropertyShark shows documents related to the house are linked to Colleen Romanov, the ex-wife of tech mogul Michael Holthouse. In 1997, Holthouse sold his company Paranet to Sprint for $425 million in cash. Bloomberg reported in that Romanov listed a 22,000-square-foot limestone mansion with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms in Houston for $65 million, making it the most expensive house for sale in Texas.
In Orange County, the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home designed by the late architect Mark Singer, in contrast, spans 5,342 square feet. Completed in 2002, it is startling teal in a sea of neutral tones.
Large windows frame panoramic views of the coastline and Catalina Island in nearly every room.
Beyond the home’s entry is a floating staircase that leads down to the great room with a double-height ceiling and a fireplace. It flows into the dining area.
The gourmet kitchen offers a large center island with breakfast bar seating.
To reach the primary suite, take the stairs. It occupies the entire upper level and features dual closets, a luxurious bathroom and a private balcony.
The lower level has a wet bar and seating area.
Sliding doors open to multiple outdoor areas, including a large oceanfront patio with a fire pit.
A waterfall courtyard, elevator and attached two-car garage add to the offering.
John Stanaland of Douglas Elliman of California and Kindy Slagle of Compass share the listing.
Records show the property last traded hands in August 2006 for $12.5 million.
