The JSerra and Sunny Hills boys soccer teams were CIF Southern Section champions in different divisions last season, but they could be headed for a championship-round showdown this season.

JSerra received the No. 1 seed and Sunny Hills the No. 2 seed in Division 1 of the playoffs when the CIF-SS pairings were released Saturday.

JSerra was the Division 1 champion a year ago, while Sunny Hills won Division 3. Now they are in the same division and aligned to possibly meet in the finals.

But first they each have some work to do, starting with their first-round games Thursday.

The Lions, who are 13-1-1 and won the Trinity League title, take on Valencia (13-5-6), the second-place team in the Empire League.

Sunny Hills (19-0-3), the Freeway League champs, open the playoffs at home against Oak Park (16-1-1).

Other county teams in the 16-team Division 1 bracket: Aliso Niguel, Fullerton, Godinez, Mater Dei and Servite.

Fullerton (17-3-2) will be at Godinez (15-4-6) in the first round Thursday.

In Division 2, Anaheim (14-8-3), the Orange League champion, is the No. 3 seed and San Clemente (8-3-8) is No. 4.

Anaheim has a bye in the first round while San Clemente will be at home against Norte Vista (10-6-5).

Other Orange County teams that received top-four seeds in their division: Canyon (12-6-5), No. 4 seed in Division 3; Santa Ana (15-4-5), No. 2 seed in Division 4.
