A 25-year-old Garden Grove man was found shot to death in a car in Fontana late Sunday night, Feb. 19, in what police said was a targeted shooting.
No one was immediately arrested.
After someone directed officers to check on the man in a car parked in front of a business in the 6500 block of Citrus Avenue, near the 210 Freeway, they found him just before 11:30 p.m.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives determined that the man, whose name had not been publicly released yet, was shot several blocks away.
“This was not a random attack, as the victim and suspect knew each other,” police said in a news release on Monday.
Officer Daniel Romero, a Police Department spokesman, declined to elaborate or provide a name or description of the suspect because he said it could hinder the investigation.
Police ask anyone with information on the case to call Detective Shannon Vanderkallen at 909-356-3380.
