Happy Thursday!
There’s nothing wrong with a little tease, but in a time when instant gratification is just a click away, actually having to wait for something seems like torture.
Earlier this week, Los Angeles-based concert promoters Goldenvoice began leaving little bread crumbs on a newly branded Instagram account about something called Power Trip. Savvy music fans caught on quick: Power Trip = Desert Trip, the 2016 mega fest that featured the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Who and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
But the heavy music in the background and metal-themed imagery indicated that this fest would be a little different.
And it is.
Power Trip is coming to Indio in October with Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden performing Oct. 6; AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne playing Oct. 7 and Metallica and Tool capping the event Oct. 8.
Back in 2011, Goldenvoice threw a big ‘ol, single-day metal party in the desert known as Big 4 with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax, but Power Trip is its own beast. Here’s what we know about the festival so far: how to get tickets, VIP package options and where to reserve hotels and camping.
