Disneyland is dropping the virtual queue for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway less than a month after the new dark ride debuted in the revamped Mickey’s Toontown that returns in March.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will start using a standby queue on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and will only use a virtual queue when needed, according to Disneyland officials.

Theme park visitors can check the Disneyland app to see if the Runaway Railway virtual queue is being deployed.

Lightning Lane remains an option for visitors who want to skip the Runaway Railway line and are willing to pay an upcharge fee — which typically costs between $12 and $25 per person per ride.

Runaway Railway is the centerpiece of the reimagined Mickey’s Toontown — which will return a few weeks later on March 8.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway opened on Jan. 27 as part of the year-long Disney100 celebration along with a new fireworks show and nighttime spectacular commemorating the 100th anniversary of Disney animation.

Disneyland visitors were required to join a virtual queue or pay an Individual Lightning Lane upcharge fee via the Disneyland app when Runaway Railway debuted – with no standby line available for the attraction.

Before the change, virtual queue enrollments for Runaway Railway opened at 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. daily.
