The OC Health Care Agency reported 1,426 more reported cases of the coronavirus from Feb. 9 to Feb. 16, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 709,877 cases reported.
There were 2,869 new cases reported in the last two-week period. The county is averaging at least 5.9 new cases a day per every 100,000 residents.
There were 170 people reported in Orange County hospitals with coronavirus on Thursday, including 26 who needed to be in an intensive care unit.
The county also reported 15 additional deaths as of Thursday, bringing the count of Orange County residents who have died from the virus to 7,908.
The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates, or gathered through the course of case investigations, and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on Jan 31.
