Huntington Beach’s iconic Civil War Days reenactment is back this year for its 30th anniversary.
Hosted over the Labor Day weekend, the annual event will feature hundreds of reenactors, music, food and vendors. This year, several new programs — including exploring Black and Native American service, politics and conflicts in the Civil War — will also be a part of the event.
Concerts will be held throughout Civil War Days, with the Richmond Howitzers Band opening the first day. After the Civil War reenactment battles at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., the Armory Band will close the first day with a twilight concert. The second day will feature a church service at 9 a.m. followed by another concert by the Richmond Howitzers Band.
Civil War Days will close Sunday afternoon, Sept. 3, with a reenactment of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
Visitors can park for free at the Huntington Beach Central Library. Paid parking is also available at the Huntington Beach Sports Center.
Food, ranging from hamburgers and hotdogs to grilled corn and salads, will be available for purchase at the Huntington Beach Historical Society tent.
Civil War Days, hosted by the Huntington Beach Historical Society, will be held from Sept. 2-3 at Huntington Beach Central Park, on Gothard Street between Slater and Talbert. The event will open to the public at 10 a.m. on both days. Admission is free.
