CIF-SS BOYS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
DIVISION 1
Etiwanda (25-4) vs. Mater Dei (26-6)

Outlook: Etiwanda senior guard Jimmy Baker scored 20 points in a 67-57 win over Canyon last week in the semifinals. Etiwanda’s superb group of guards includes juniors Amare Campbell and Carrington Pierce. Mater Dei has won 24 CIF-SS boys basketball championships in Gary McKnight’s 41 years as the school’s coach. The Monarchs’ most recent CIF-SS championship in the sport was in 2018. This year’s team, which finished second in the Trinity League to Open finalist St. John Bosco, is led by 6-8 senior Zach Davidson. Freshmen Luke Barnett (6-3) and Brannon Martinsen (6-8) have played their best in these playoffs.
DIVISION 2AA
Orange Lutheran (25-4) vs. Tesoro (28-4)

Outlook: Orange Lutheran finished in a three-way tie with JSerra and Santa Margarita for third place in the Trinity League. Orange Lutheran has defeated Aliso Niguel, Rancho Cucamonga and top-seeded Oxnard in the playoffs. In the 70-49 win over Oxnard in the semifinals 6-2 sophomore guard Zion Paleo scored 18 points. John Gazzaniga, a 6-7 sophomore, scored 14 points with 11 rebounds. Third-seeded Tesoro beat Culver City 68-65 in overtime in the semifinals as senior 6-3 guard Carson Brown scored 39 points. Seniors Jake Bennett, Nathan Draper and Blake Manning have been among the consistent contributors for the Titans. Tesoro’s only previous CIF-SS boys basketball finals appearance was in 2009.
Sage Hill (15-11) vs. Long Beach Jordan (20-12)
