Huntington Beach Scout Troop 555 helps bring fresh veggies to those in need
Members of Huntington Beach Boy Scout Troop 555 recently harvested vegetables, including bell peppers, broccolini, and cauliflower, at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Irvine to provide fresh vegetables to those in need in Orange County.
The Scouts also participated in the Beachcities Pantry, handing out more than 100 holiday meals, all the fixins’ and hams, to ensure families in need have a meal during the recent holiday season.
Families and Communities Together delivers bicycles to county kids
Some local children got new bicycles over the holidays thanks to the Orange County Social Services Agency.
Families and Communities Together (FaCT) hosted a Holiday Bike and Toy Drive distribution at the Tustin Family Campus facility for 16 FaCT Family Resource Centers (FRCs) in Orange County.
Every year, county resident Trish Hurley and Sean Canova, owner of TZoneOC Fitness & Pilates, donate bikes to families with children who use the FaCT Family Resource Centers.
“Sean and I are always so honored to donate bikes to Orange County families during the holiday season,” Hurley said. “We have the best memories of riding our bikes around our communities and having fun outdoors.”
The recent drive also received donated helmets from the 4Shayj Foundation, an organization focused on helmet safety education for children. In addition, local businesses, including Index Fund Advisors, Charitable Ventures and PropStream, donated toys from toy drives they held on behalf of FaCT.
The FaCT team and donors were joined by our Family Resource Center staff, who chose from the 80 bikes, 42 scooters, helmets, sports balls and toys. To find your local FRC, visit www.factoc.org.
