Members of the Anaheim Hills Auxiliary of the Assistance League of Anaheim will once again participate in a “spring bag assembly” service project during its March 28 meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Haskett Library branch.

The nonprofit will prepare 350 bags, filled with a coloring book, crayons, pencil, toy and a chocolate rabbit for the children served by Haskett and Ponderosa libraries.

On April 10, Auxiliary members will join members of the Assistance League Anaheim during the Anaheim Unified School District Color and Light event at the Brookhurst Community Center. This event features art created by Anaheim junior and senior high school students, of which, the Assistance League is a longtime awards sponsor. A reception and art viewing begin at 5:30 p.m., with the awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend.

If interested in learning more about or attending these events, contact Hilary Lacher at 714-394-1459 or at hilach2k@gmail.com.  Haskett Library is located on Broadway in Anaheim and the Brookhurst Community Center is on Crescent Avenue.

Your old books could help the library

Looking for a place to rid your home or garage of books you no longer want or need? You might consider donating them to Friends of Canyon Hills Library. The nonprofit is currently looking for fiction, non-fiction, and specialty books for its used book sales held throughout the year.

Money raised from the sales enable the Friends group to provide a variety of services and programs at the Canyon Hills branch benefiting the entire community. Some of these have included cultural programs for children and adults, purchased PC workstations for the children’s area, purchased study carrels for computer use, sponsored reading programs and author visits.

Anyone who would like to donate books to the Friends should place them in the donation bin located inside the front lobby of the Canyon Hills branch. For additional information, contact the library at 714-765-6444.
