Día de los Muertos at Gloria Molina Grand Park: The opening day of the 12th event at Grand Park includes 19 ofrendas (altars) created by individual artists, organizations and community partners and a program of dance and music by Grupo Folklorico Huitzillin, Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles and tenor Jonathan Lacayo, from LA Opera, who performs songs that pay respect to Día de los Muertos, plus activities for park-goers, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 21. Also, the community ofrenda honors the victims of gun violence in Monterey Park and those who died as a result of the wildfires on Maui. Park-goers may also contribute to the community ofrenda.
