Target opened two new Southern California stores on Sunday, July 16, one in North Hollywood and another in Ontario.
The 76,000-square-foot North Hollywood store, at 12121 Victory Blvd., is the Minneapolis-based retailer’s 123rd location in the greater Los Angeles area. It employs about 130 workers and features drive-up/order pickup service and same-day delivery. It also has a CVS pharmacy and a Starbucks.
Target’s greater LA-area locations employ about 21,500 workers, company officials said.
Store Director Andrea Felich said the North Hollywood location offers a “wide assortment of Target’s top owned and national brands,” including beauty products, food and beverage items and toys.
The 70,000-square-foot Ontario store, at 1670 East 4th St., is staffed by 120 employees and is the company’s 30th location in the greater Ontario area. Those stores collectively employ about 6,220 workers. The Ontario store also has drive-up/order pickup service, same-day delivery, a CVS pharmacy, Starbucks and an Ultra Beauty section.
Starting wages at the new stores range from $15 to $24 an hour, depending upon an employee’s job and local market conditions. Target says its wages are based on industry benchmarking and local wage data, among other factors. The company said it offers tuition-free education assistance to employees, as well as access to counseling and doctors.
Target operates about 2,000 stores nationwide, and the company plans to open about 20 additional stores this year in a mix of sizes. Target stores range from several thousand feet to more than 200,000 square feet. A typical big-box Target store is about 125,000 square feet.
