LOS ANGELES — A stabbing in downtown Los Angeles left two men dead — one of them the alleged suspect, who stabbed himself during the confrontation, authorities said Friday.
Officers went to West Sixth Street, between Broadway and South Spring Street, about 3:45 p.m. Thursday on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on at least two people, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
According to the preliminary investigation, a man stabbed two other men and also stabbed himself, the LAPD reported.
All three men were transported for hospital treatment, and the suspect and one of the victims died, the LAPD told City News Service on Friday morning. Their names were withheld, pending notification of relatives. The condition of the survivor was not immediately known.
No officers were injured, police said. KTLA5 reported from the scene that one victim was a man in his 60s, who was discovered with stab wounds to his stomach outside a Starbucks.
Traffic was shut down in both directions of Spring Street in the vicinity of the stabbing while an investigation was conducted.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call 877-LAPD-247.
