A hard to explain but fun to explore immersive art playground designed for the Instagram Age will weave together Hollywood fantasies, myths and glitz when Meow Wolf brings its unique brand of mind- bending interactive entertainment to Los Angeles.
Meow Wolf plans to open a permanent location of its genre-defying immersive art experience in a Los Angeles movie theater in 2026.
“For years we’ve made trips to Los Angeles, dreaming of creating something in its layered and ever-changing network of creativity,” Meow Wolf co-founder Sean Di said in a statement from the company. “Meow Wolf Los Angeles will stretch these cinematic horizons by weaving together an unpredictable tapestry of art, story and interactivity.”
The Santa Fe, New Mexico-based art collective will announce more details in the coming months about the L.A. exhibition’s theme, location and opening date.
Meow Wolf’s walk-through art exhibits that are equal parts imaginative and awe inspiring connect interactive worlds with underlying storylines that combine elements of escape rooms, selfie museums and immersive projection mapping experiences.
“This is more than an immersive experience,” Meow Wolf CEO Jose Tolosa said in a statement from the company. “Meow Wolf Los Angeles will blur the lines between reality and fantasy, inviting everyone to become part of a living, breathing spectacle.”
Meow Wolf Los Angeles plans to collaborate with local artists to create a “full sensory love letter to the Los Angeles art scene, its history and its legacy.” The L.A. outpost will incorporate thematic connections to Meow Wolf locations in Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas and soon Houston.
Meow Wolf’s original House Of Eternal Return in Santa Fe received the THEA Award for Excellence in Connected Immersion from the Themed Entertainment Association — which typically recognizes the best new themed lands and rides from Disney, Universal, Six Flags and other theme parks.
