The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association has announced its 2023 Hollywood Bowl summer season, which runs from June through September at the iconic outdoor venue.
It all kicks off on Saturday, June 10 with R&B icon Janet Jackson’s Together Again Tour, which commemorates Jackson’s 50th anniversary in the entertainment business as well as the 30th anniversary of “Janet” and 25th anniversary of “The Velvet Rope.”
The Hollywood Bowl celebrated its 100th season last year with much fanfare and continues its tradition of diverse entertainment with this year’s lineup, which features blockbuster film screenings accompanied by a full orchestra and evenings dedicated to jazz, blues, rock, R&B and classical music. LA Phil Music & Artistic director Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the orchestra during multiple concerts and LA Phil Creative Chair of Jazz Herbie Hancock has curated multiple nights of jazz music.
“As we look to the next hundred years at the Hollywood Bowl, I am honored and excited to share a season which, to me, speaks of a beautiful future ahead,” Dudamel said in a press release. “From timeless music by Mendelssohn, de Falla and Verdio, to modern-day classics by John Williams and Duke Ellington, to the soul-filling sounds of our Pan-American Music Initiative, to the singular energy of Café Tacvba, each of these programs takes us on the kind of magic journey that can only begin at the Bowl.”
